Your next show is coming up and you want to make some cool stickers to trade with everyone! But where do you even start? We can help!
There are sooo many ways to design a sticker (or anything, for that matter). Here are some suggestions to get the creative juices flowing.
Pick your sticker design type. There are basically 2 types of sticker designs: Show and Song.
Show stickers focus on the city or the venue the show is in. Huntsville = Space theme. Beach towns = Tropical or Nautical. Vegas = Gambling. You get the idea. They usually have the dates, city and venue listed. These are great for giving away, selling and trading at the actual show but not so much after the fact.
Song stickers focus on a song title or lyric. The design can be practically anything. Lookalikes of brand logos are common. If you’re looking to create a design to sell on a regular basis, this is the way to go.
Pick a style. Do you want it to look like a vintage comic book? Futuristic? 1970’s disco? Steampunk? Cartoons? Text based (no graphics)? Girly? Abstract? The list is endless! Pick what YOU like!
A fun way to get started is to fire up your favorite bud, put on some music and start doodling with pencil and paper. Get some friends together and brainstorm ideas.
Paper and pencil not your thing? Do what I do: go to Freepik com and browse ideas. Make sure to look for “Vector Graphics” unless you want to use a photo, which is fine. Then just search for whatever cool thing pops in your head. Don’t pay to download them. We have a paid membership and can do that for you. No charge.
Can’t find exactly what you’re looking for? Try AI generators. Don’t ask us which ones are best or how to use them. We have no idea.
Be original. Try to stay away from putting elements in your design that you see all the time unless it really works.
Please don’t use band logos, imagery, photos you didn’t take or art you grabbed off the internet (unless it’s an image you paid for the rights to use). You can if you want but you’ll need to get them printed somewhere else.
Art is art so do what makes you happy!
